First and foremost, we are writers. We adore stories, both in the reading and the telling of them. Together, we created this press for the members of our creative writing group who wish to pursue their careers as independently published authors. We provide our personal experience and skills to help create, design, and promote those endeavors.
Secondly, we are people. People who want to give back to the community in the best way we know how. Can you guess? Enter Clichés For A Cause, our non-profit way of giving back to the community.
CLICHÉS FOR A CAUSE
Clichés for a Cause is an ongoing project initially begun by Mitchell Lehnert and supported by the members of the Herding Cats Creative Writing group, a collection of writers based in Austin, Texas with members from all around the United States. The first edition e-book release of the Dark & Stormy Night short story collection benefited the Texas Wildfire Relief Fund in the wake of the Bastrop fires which tore through central Texas in 2011.
In 2014, C.L. McCollum and August Clearwing dusted off the hastily-crafted anthology, poured through rigorous edits, and accepted additional submissions to renew the project. The new edition of Dark & Stormy is benefitting The Office of Letters and Light, better known as the driving force behind NaNoWriMo and the Young Writers Program.
We've always been of the opinion that every little bit counts, and that goes double for the act of giving. The goal of the Clichés for a Cause campaign is to raise awareness about subjects that mean the most to us. We pour our time and love into crafting fantastical new spins on tales from every genre. And it's a great writing exercise.
C. L. McCollum
Social Media Director
C. L. McCollum spends her time delving into the wonder of the world. She’s always been drawn to the “How” and the “Why” and the “Is this even possible?” That addiction to wonder has led her to the realm of Science Fiction and Fantasy. While her debut novel is on the road to publication, C. L. has stories featured in the charity anthology Clichés for a Cause: It Was a Dark and Stormy Night (October 2014), the After Tomorrow anthology (December 2014), and the Mystical Bites anthology (March 2015). Currently, C. L. is keeping it weird in Austin, TX with the love of her life and their various furry roommates.
August Clearwing is the pseudonym for a geeky writerly-shaped lady and perpetual student of life born and raised in Austin, Texas. She hopes to share her experiences and stories to help others grow while simultaneously learning from the people she meets along the way. She has previously published YA fiction under a different name through a traditional publisher but has recently discovered her calling for more New Adult fare over the past several years. These days she is a purveyor of erotic romance in multiple genres and a proud Nerdfighter.
Elaine Titus is a musician, a teacher, and an undercover feminist. A Texas native, she writes to avoid housework, when she isn't joining the weekly podcast of Mimosa Thursday or snuggling ninja-dog. Her first two short story publications were in the Clichés for a Cause series. She is currently progressing with both Middle Grade and Young Adult projects which she hopes to publish in the future.

While our focus is mainly on charity works, we will on occasion be accepting submissions for novels, novellas, and anthologies external to the Clichés For A Cause moniker. At this time we are not accepting submissions.
